Reflection of the week

Posted in Faith

I have to admit that I am drawn to people who look like me, think like me, and worship as I do. The conversation between Jesus and the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:10-28) challenges me to review my attitude to those I consider to be ‘outsiders’. At first, Jesus rejected her right to the Good News on the grounds of her ethnicity, but her faith impressed him, so that he did not deny her request. I notice that Jesus didn’t ask her to convert or change before granting her healing. It was enough that she had faith. The Gospel is for everyone, and it is not for me to judge them or change people, but to love them.

Prayer

May I look at strangers through your eyes Lord, and love them as you love them. In your name Lord, I pray. Amen.

Reflection of the Week - 16th April 2024

Don’t you wonder sometimes how our covenant Lord who is God – Creator, Master, and Teacher, can and does create from nothing and does not need anything or anyone but is helplessly in love with you?

Reflection of the Week - 23rd April 2024

While I claim no expert knowledge when it comes to sheep, I did find myself relating to Jesus in his role as the Good Shepherd in today's gospel (21st April).
