Reflection of the week

Posted in Faith

Have you ever suddenly come across a word or a phrase that makes an indelible imprint on your mind? One word which springs to mind is “spirituality” – spirit-uality. This means living each day by the power of God's Holy Spirit – reading the Word, praying, listening for the still small voice of the Spirit, or giving praise and thanks to God.

Reflection

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us (1 Corinthians 2:10-12). If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit (Galatians 5: 25).

Response

Almighty God, thank you that your Holy Spirit guides and protects us and lights up the path that stretches before us. May we take the time to listen to your still, small voice. Your Spirit helps us make decisions that lead to a more abundant life, and so we give you thanks.

Action

The passages in the reflection mean we need to be guided by the Spirit in all that we do. It doesn't matter if the Spirit is guiding us towards a decision that may be risky or out of our comfort zone. We must trust and have the faith that God is with us in every circumstance.

Reflection of the Week - 16th April 2024

Don’t you wonder sometimes how our covenant Lord who is God – Creator, Master, and Teacher, can and does create from nothing and does not need anything or anyone but is helplessly in love with you?
