Day 29 - "Jesus: Our way out of despair"

with Michael Khan
Tribe/Language: Noongar people. Broome, WA
Devotional written by Karen Schneider

Scripture:

And when they suffered, God suffered too; and the messenger of His presence acted to save them. Out of enduring love, compassion, and concern, God Himself rescued them. Through all those years long ago, God picked them up and carried them through. (Isaiah 63:9 Voice)

Quote from Michael Khan:

“I had a very sad life until I got down and prayed to God and asked God to help me. That was the happiest day of my life because I just felt God’s presence. Thank you for loving me, Lord.” – Michael Khan

Reflect:

No matter what you’re going through, Jesus is here for you. See His eyes shining with love and compassion for you. He is reaching out His hand to you… Take His hand, He’ll never let go.

Be strengthened and encouraged as you listen to “Desert song” by Brooke Fraser and Hillsong United. Declare Jesus’ love and faithfulness over you and your circumstances as you listen.

Pray:

Let’s pray Psalm 91 as a prayer of hope, healing, protection and deliverance for ourselves, our family, and Australia.

Action Steps:

“I have heard them crying out… so I have come down to rescue them… so now, go. I am sending you…” (Exodus 3:7-10 NIV).

Just as Jesus was sent by His Father, we are also sent and empowered as sons and daughters of the Father to represent Him to the world, in the same fullness of power and love that Jesus has (John 17:23). Find out more about local opportunities to reach out to those who are poor or broken in spirit. Join with your family or friends and see how you can make a difference.

Some ideas include:

  • Identify and support food kitchens in your area.
  • Buy The Big Issue magazine on the street from people who are seeking a meaningful way out of homelessness.org.au
  • Distribute blankets and warm socks and clothes to those who are struggling with homelessness this winter.
  • Join a “home visit” program: meet with people in your neighbourhood that struggle with isolation and loneliness and share a cup of tea together.

The 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting resource was created by a group of people who feel Jesus wants Australia to listen to our Indigenous brothers and sisters. They travelled all over Australia filming people's stories of how Jesus' power had transformed their lives, families and communities.

Daily devotionals are provided during the 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting, and can be downloaded all at once, viewed each day from the website or delivered to your inbox.

Reflection of the Week - 16th April 2024

Don’t you wonder sometimes how our covenant Lord who is God – Creator, Master, and Teacher, can and does create from nothing and does not need anything or anyone but is helplessly in love with you?

Reflection of the Week - 23rd April 2024

While I claim no expert knowledge when it comes to sheep, I did find myself relating to Jesus in his role as the Good Shepherd in today's gospel (21st April).

Safe Church Screening

It’s nearly 5 years since the introduction of the Working With Childrens Check (WWCC) became a minimum requirement for those with roles of responsibility within the life of the church.
