Induction service for Rev Bob Hutchinson

Morialta Uniting Church is looking forward to welcoming Rev Bob Hutchinson into Placement in their congregation. The induction service will take place at 4pm on Sunday 30 July. Mission & Leadership Development subcommittees

The Mission & Leadership Development (MLD) Board has developed subcommittees to oversee some of the work that the ministry centre undertakes – “Formation Education & Discipleship”, “Public Theology and Mission”, and “MLD Operations”. The MLD Board seeks expressions of interest from church members who would like to be part of one of these committees.

Uniting Leaders 2017 – volunteer minibus drivers needed

Uniting Leaders is seeking volunteers to transport people in minibuses from Pilgrim Uniting Church to Hope Valley Uniting Church (and return) for the Uniting Leaders 2017 conference, which runs from Tuesday 22 August to Thursday 24 August.

Transforming Worship conference & public events – starting 27 July!

The Uniting Church’s national worship conference will be held from 27-30 July at Burnside City Uniting Church, and will include several worship events open to the public.

Red Dove Cafe - seeking volunteers

Volunteers are needed to help at the Red Dove Cafe at the 2017 Royal Adelaide Show, cooking and serving food to raise funds for Christian mission projects in SA. Different shifts and timeslots are available during the Show (1-10 September) and prior to the start of the Show (30-31 August).

Wanted: “Together In Song” books

Hamley Bridge Uniting Church is looking for second-hand “Together in Song” hymn books. The congregation currently uses the AHB and would like to update. Does your congregation have any surplus copies of “Together in Song” to give away? Please contact Hugh Tily on 0448 827 771.

 

Willunga-McLaren Vale-Aldinga Ecumenical Reading Group

To prepare for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, an ecumenical reading group will meet on Thursday 27 July at 7pm at Mary of Galilee Community Room (corner of How and Quinliven Roads, Aldinga).

The group will meet on the 4th Thursday of July, August and September, focusing each month on a different chapter from “Towards Unity – Ecumenical Dialogue 500 years after the Reformation”. All are welcome to participate and attend.

Reconciliation Week thanks

This year, the Pilgrimage of Healing, an appeal held annually during Reconciliation Week, supported the education, discipleship and training needs of young people at the Congress faith community in Oodnadatta. Congress would like to thank all churches, groups and individuals who gave to their ministry this year.

Red Dove Café – excess equipment to give away

The redevelopment of Red Dove Café has left organisers with equipment excess to requirement. They are seeking to give these items away urgently, but they must be collected from the Wayville Showgrounds within the next week. The items are: four gas stoves (domestic type) and one bain marie.

Reconciliation SA fundraiser

A special performance of “Two Captains” will be held to raise funds for the 2017 Kokoda Track Reconciliation Trek and the Brougham Place Uniting Church Building Fund on Sunday 30 July at 2pm. The event will be held at Brougham Place Uniting Church.

Amnesty International off-shore detention video

Amnesty International has created a short video to mark four years of the Australian Government’s off-shore detention regime and the affect it has had on the lives of so many seeking refuge or asylum in Australia.

Congregations and organisations have been invited by Amnesty to share their video at events or on social media. A YouTube version is available here and a Facebook version is here.

 

Fundamentals of Transitional Ministry Course

The Fundamentals of Transitional Ministry is a course being held in Brisbane from 4-6 September 2017. The three-day program is designed to give participants an introduction to the key concepts and practices of ministering with congregations and organisations in times of transition.
