President’s National Ministers Conference #1 – Darwin
The first 2017 President’s National Ministers Conference will be held in Darwin from Thursday 29 June to Sunday 2 July. The early bird discount for registration has recently been extended until Thursday 27 April.
The conference will provide an opportunity for conversation on recognition, sovereignty and treaty for First Nation Peoples, building on the 2015 Assembly resolution to spend time talking about what it would mean for our practises as Church to recognise First People as sovereign.
The Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress, together with the Northern Regional Council of Congress, will have a strong presence at the conference. They will provide input and facilitate discussions about the justice themes of treaty, sovereignty, reconciliation, climate, environment and the theology of land.
Keynote speakers will address topics such as the Doctrine of Discovery, assumptions about mission, Indigenous seasonal knowledge, and the importance of heart language in Bible translation.
This is an opportunity for ministers and those in ministry across Australia to gain new insights, be challenged in their thinking, and help further a broader national conversation.
