Donations of items for KCO – updated list!

The KCO Event Office is still looking for donations or loans of a number of items for use at KCO 2017 (25-26 March) – a number of new items have been added since last week’s list.

The KCO Event Office is seeking shoe boxes, newspaper, thick cardboard tubes (20 needed; large enough for a tennis ball to fit through), small paper plates, dolly pegs, telescopes (two minimum needed, with skilled operators if possible), dress ups/costumes and props (for a photo booth), and sports cones/markers (approx. 60).

As mentioned last week, KCO also needs natural baskets (for storage), natural products/loose parts for nature play (bark, sticks, leaves, gum nuts, milk crates etc. – nothing sharp or breakable please), board games or books (preferably related to the 2017 KCO theme, “Big World”), floor cushions or blow up couches, large washable floor rugs, bubbles, volleyball nets, fairy lights or string lights, and bean bags (large ones for sitting on and small ones for sports/games).

If you are able to supply any of these items or would like more information, please email Laura Carson at Turn on Javascript!

Chapel of Reconciliation Decommissioning Service

The Chapel of Reconciliation, located on the Uniting College and Adelaide College of Divinity campus in Brooklyn Park, has been a staple of college life since its dedication in 1997.

As plans for the new Brooklyn Park refurbishment grow closer, work is now beginning to decommission the Chapel as a place of worship. A decommissioning service will be held at the Chapel on Tuesday 7 March at 12.30pm, followed by a barbecue lunch at 1.15pm. The service will be led by Rev Dr Vicky Balabanski and Rev Christy Capper.

The decommissioning service will recognise the importance of the Chapel in the life of many students and staff members over the past decade, including those from St Barnabas College, Parkin-Wesley College (now Uniting College) and St Francis Xavier Seminary.

For more information about the event or to RSVP for the service and/or the barbecue lunch, please click here or email Sue Arthur at Turn on Javascript!

Intergenerational Worship Ideas for Lent

A resource to assist and inspire churches to adapt elements of a worship liturgy (call to worship, prayers, songs and Bible reading) to be more intergenerational during the season of Lent has recently been made available on the Uniting Church SA website. The resource is based on the lectionary readings but ideas can be adapted to suit any Bible/theme focus. It is available to download here. This resource has been written and produced in partnership across three Uniting Church Synods, including South Australia’s Intergen team.

The Uniting Church SA Communications team is holding two information sessions related to the Congregational Website Program in March. The first session is scheduled for Thursday 9 March at 10am at the Synod Office (Level 2, 212 Pirie Street, Adelaide). The second session will be held on Tuesday 14 March at 6pm at a venue TBD. It is anticipated that these sessions will run for approximately one hour. Please note that places at these events will be limited.
