Surrender Adelaide: Saints and Citizens

Surrender is a collective of Christians passionate about affirming, encouraging and inspiring people for incarnational mission and justice. This event exists to raise up Christians to live the radical call of Jesus. At the core of Surrender is the relationship with and involvement of Indigenous Australian people of this land. Explore the theme: "Saints and Citizens" with keynote speakers, Pastor Ray Minniecon, Melinda Cousins and Kim Hammond. The Uniting Aboriginal Islander Christian Congress is one of the hosting partners for Surrender Adelaide. Surrender Adelaide 2018 will be held at Marion Church of Christ (Alawoona Ave, Mitchell Park SA 5043) from Friday 12 October – Sunday 14 October.

People's Poverty Summit

The People’s Poverty Summit demonstrates how the community can fight the attacks on welfare recipients and low-income workers. The event will include break-out groups to plan for campaigns and information stalls to sign petitions and write to MPs. People’s Poverty Summit will be held on Saturday 28 July, 2018, at Clayton Wesley Uniting Church (corner of Portrush road and the Parade, Norwood) from 11:30am-6:30pm. Revival Nights

Mallala Uniting Church will host Revival Nights on Sunday 15 July and Sunday 22 July from 7:30pm. These two evening events will feature guest speaker Pastor Barry Littleford and is a free and open night of worship and Holy Spirit ministry. All are welcome to attend. Rev Alan Biglow induction service

The induction service for Rev Alan Biglow will be at held at Woodville Uniting Church not Enfield Uniting Church as previously announced. Details still to be confirmed.

Equipping Church Councils workshop

Equipping Church Councils will be a time to discern and determine strategic actions for engagement with the social fabric of the local community. This workshop for church councils will create an opportunity to share and gain insights, hear from practitioners, and receive tools to apply in local situations. This one day only workshop will be held at Christ Church Uniting Wayville (26 King William Road, Wayville, 5034) on Saturday 11 August, 2018, from 9:30am – 12:30pm. All are welcome to attend this free event, although RSVP’s (by Friday 3 August) are required. Urban Mission Network – August Gathering

Urban Mission Network’s August Gathering will be centred on connecting, collaborating, and celebrating their presence in our multi-cultural neighbourhoods. Bring a donation to cover the cost of your meal provided on the night (please advise of any dietary needs). Location to be announced. Peace Expo: sharing stories to inspire us on paths to justice and peace

Projects funded by a bequest given to SA Council of Churches to assist Refugees and Displaced Persons are now complete. You are invited to hear their stories, discover and share resources and inspire one another on paths towards justice and peace. This event takes place on Sunday 5 August, 2018, 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Morialta Uniting Church (26 Chapel St, Magill).

Uluru Statement from the Heart: study guide

A Voice in The Wilderness: Listening to the Statement from the Heart, by Celia Kemp, is now available. The Anglican Board of Mission (ABM) has released this study guide to help the Church listen to the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. This valuable study guide can be used individually or in groups. To download the study guide and for more information visit the National Council of churches website.

Life in Christ Resource.

Rev John Blanksby has written a seven week Ephesians study guide for small groups. It is for use in conjunction with the lectionary readings from 15 July to 26 August. John has offered to share this with members of the Uniting Church SA and it can be accessed here.

Wanted Australian Hymn Book II: Melody Line Edition “Together in Song”

Organfest cancelled

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Semaphore Uniting Church event, Organfest, has been cancelled. Organfest was due to be held on Sunday 9 of September.

150 years at Port MacDonnell!

The Port MacDonnell Uniting Church are celebrating their 150 Anniversary this September. Centre for Music Liturgy and the Arts: 15th assembly worship resources

If you are looking for resources for worship pre or post Assembly, the Centre for Music Liturgy and the Arts has gathered and developed resources to aid worship leaders. The resources are based on the President’s theme for this Assembly: Abundant Grace, Liberating Hope. This resource also includes sheet music, the assembly logo, and a power point presentation. This resource has been at the request of the Pastoral Relations Committee. Resources can be accessed from cmla.org.au/assembly or heading to the CMLA webpage.

Criminal history checks: NEW application form

The new Application & Informed Consent form for your Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) is now available on the Uniting Church SA website. This must be used with immediate effect as this reflects changes to proof of identity requirements (people who cannot provide the full ID requirements specified on the application form should contact the Screening Services Unit to discuss alternatives before submitting an application). Old forms received will be returned to the applicant as these can no longer be accepted from 1 July, 2018. You can find the new forms here.
