Workshop to address the challenges facing congregations with buildings on the SA Heritage Register.

The Urban Mission Network will host a workshop for property committee convenors and members on Saturday 2 April, from 9.30 am – 12.30 pm at Clayton Wesley Uniting church (cnr The Parade & Portrush Rd, Beulah Park).

Many of our congregations have buildings which are included in the South Australian Heritage Register which replaced the State Heritage Listing in February 2008. These Uniting Church congregations are confronted with challenges and dilemmas when long term maintenance and restoration projects are being planned and adaptation is needed.

This workshop will seek to clarify some of the processes and encourage collaboration when it comes to dealing with local government heritage staff and state heritage advisors. We would like to hear from those who have been involved over the past few years in helping congregations cope with this challenge so that some preliminary identification of issues can be prepared for the workshop.
