Exchange of Gifts: Re-imagining our Unity in Christ through Receptive Ecumenism
St John the Baptist Parish Centre
342 Anzac Highway, Plympton
8 July 2017 9:30am - 12:00pm
An interactive event and conversation on the question: what does my church have to learn from another church about welcoming newcomers, nurturing hospitality, and/or nourishing an active congregation?
Four church leaders will open the conversation by sharing their insights and what they may have learned from having listened to people from other churches:
• Ms Carol Assaad, Coptic Orthodox
• Rev Lyn Leane, Uniting
• Mr Michael Vial, Catholic
• Fr Silouan Fotineas, Greek Orthodox
The event will provide opportunities to reflect on what we still have to learn, and open ourselves to listen - both to our ecumenical friends and to the Spirit. Through this, it is hoped that we can bring new insights, creativity, process and imagination to critical issues affecting our churches and so allow ourselves to be drawn more closely into our unity in Christ.
This is an Ecumenical Learning Event of the SA Council of Churches.
