What is Congress?

The Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) is an association of Indigenous peoples within the Uniting Church.

It was formed in 1982 after meetings that brought together Aboriginal and Islander members of the Church and other interested people in a conference at Crystal Creek, near Townsville.

The Congress requested and was granted by the Assembly, in 1985, authority to make decisions in all matters relating to ministry with Aboriginal and Islander peoples.
