Building Bridges of Understanding:
Cultural Awareness for Ministry training workshop
18-19 August 2016
Parafield Gardens Uniting Church
3 Shepherdson Rd, Parafield Gardens, SA
We will be holding the UCA Assembly cultural awareness for ministry training workshops ‘Building Bridges of Understanding.’ This is a two day workshop and attendance on both days satisfies the participation requirements for the course.
This is a required or strongly recommended course for some of the formative processes in the UCA, please check with your process facilitator or with me for more information on this. This workshop is also strongly recommended for lay leaders and congregations engaged in culturally and linguistically diverse ministries or hoping to engage in them. The program engages mainstream and CALD participants together and is designed to help us all to understand and grow in our increasingly intercultural church.
The cost is $15 per day to cover catering (morning tea and lunch are provided).
Please contact Kemeri Liévano (CALD Ministry) for more information or to register: firstname.lastname@example.org
Multicultural Prayer & Worship Service
21 August 2016
Vermont Uniting Church
576 Cross Road, [cnr of New Street], South Plympton
This August, the UCSA will hold a special Multicultural Ministries Celebration Service to bring together different cultural and language expressions of faith in our state. This service will be more than a visually rich and culturally vibrant worship experience. It will take us a step further in the lifelong journey of understanding the gifts and strengths God has seeded into the diverse peoples of the Body of Christ in this state. We will learn from leaders of all ages, be strengthened ourselves in our understanding of God’s work unfolding in the UCSA and we will be affirmed in the hope that we have in Christ for the future of the church in generations to come. We are blessed as a wider church to see how God is increasingly using these gifts and strengths to help ground the mission of the UCSA in culturally relevant faith expression and outreach.
The CALD communities of faith welcome you to share in the celebration of the blessings of God among them. You are invited to come with open hearts to seek God’s blessings. You are encouraged to join in unity, worshiping God with one heart and many voices.
Service begins at 2pm and is followed by a shared meal provided in love by the Fijian fellowship. Guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. Sefarosa Caroll from Uniting World.
